I have recently seen so many awesome pictures of my country - Estonia. And looking at them I realized that there's actually so much beauty that I haven't noticed before. I mean, I have been in every single one of these places but often times you just walk along instead and stop and think because you have seen it so much that you don't notice these awesome things anymore. So here is a little feature journal about my country, I hope you enjoy!
Tallinn old town is definitely one of the first places where tourists go when they arrive to Estonia. This is one of the oldest towns in Europe and most of it is still here. To give you the idea of how old it is then America was discovered in 1492, however Tallinn's first pharmacy was established in 1422, so 70 years before. And fun fact is that this pharmacy is still opened making it one of the oldest pharmacies.
During the winter Tallinn's old town is quite peaceful but once summer arrives it gets busier and busier, slowly filling the streets to the point where you don't have a room to walk anymore. I can't count how many times I have walked along these streets to meet up with my friends, go to eat or just cruise around and find some interesting streets I haven't seen yet.

But there's a lot more to it than just Tallinn's old town. One thing that I like about Estonia is that we have a lot of water and we are surrounded by the sea from almost every angle. This is also one of the reasons why Estonia has always been a desired place for other countries, because it is a good gateway to Europe. We have been invaded by Sweden, Germany and Russia but we have always managed to fight our way back to freedom.
I live in a place where I have about 3 minute walk to river and about 10 minute walk to beach, in fact I live in a summer capital of Estonia because when it's summer then this city becomes a number one place to visit in Estonia, not only for tourists but also to a lot of Estonians themselves. Sometimes it is funny to go outside and not hear a single word in my own language just because there's so many tourists.
But what most amazes our tourists is the fact that we have so much greenery and untouched nature and this is what is also most important for me about Estonia. We know how important nature is and we try to keep it, it doesn't take much to find a good peaceful spot here. Just drive or walk for a few miles and you have found it.
Or if you want to just look around and see what's going on then this is awesome as well. I have lived here for almost 24 years, for 10 years every summer I took 3-4 days to travel around Estonia and find something new, and every time I found something that amazed me. You might not find busy towns with shops and glamour but you will find peaceful nature, old traditions and helpful people. And this for me is Estonia.
What do you love about the place where you live?
Thanks, I hope you will visit it some day.
Anytime. C:
